BASF National Business Conference, 2018
Carolina Aviation Museum & The Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC
Overview
An annual three-day conference for the executive and leadership team of BASF North America. This 2018 edition was delivered as a surprise offsite at the Carolina Aviation Museum, paired with The Ballantyne in South Charlotte, and carried a nautical theme through teambuilding, breakouts, and peer-led sessions. I partnered with a 12-person senior leadership committee to shape strategy, direction, and themes, then executed the event from concept through delivery.
- Delivered annually for BASF North America's executive and leadership team; this example represents the 2018 program.
- Surprised attendees with an offsite location at the Carolina Aviation Museum, supported by programming at The Ballantyne in South Charlotte.
- Built a nautical theme through teambuilding activities, breakout sessions, and peer-led group sessions.
- Allocated a dedicated headshot space and wove activities into the overall program of events.
- Managed the general session and main plenary as a confidential, closed-door session for essential leadership discussions.
- Organized 14 ancillary breakout sessions, each with its own level of production and tailored on-site setup, so departments could meet in dedicated environments.
- Worked with each team to ensure all deliverables were aligned on strategy, goals, and objectives.
- Collaborated with a committee of 12 senior leaders to define event strategy, creative direction, and annual themes.
- Owned the event end to end — from initial concept and strategy through on-site execution.
- Created and implemented a full risk-assessment plan for the event.
- Staged a safety-themed keynote and leadership session among the museum's aircraft, including the “Miracle on the Hudson” Airbus, leading into breakouts, dinner, and a reception in the hangar.
